The movie psycho can be seen as a work of Hichtcock as hitchcock was known as the master os suspense and many of the best scenes in psycho were made so bacause of the suspense. such as the shower scene and when Arbogaust dies. Those scenes are both made powerful because of the susppense they create. The  film was shot in black and white because paramount pictures didnt think the movie would do well so they gave him a small budget to work with. Also Hitcock thought the movie would be to gory in color. when the movie was being shot Hitchcock made it clear that he would not allow anyone involved in production of the film to tell anyone about the films plots, he also made sure that when movie was being screened in movie theaters people knew they needed to get there on time and that late admitance is not allowed.

The movie represents a specific culture as it was the first films to start to break away from the Motion picture production code. During this time period television was being popularized and movie producers had to find a way to differentiate them selves from the T.V shows wich followed a more strict code then the motion pictures code. movies started to slowly break "laws of the code" and Psycho is a prime example. In the film it breaks several rules as you are not suppossed to feel sympathy for wrong doers, Crane steals 40,000 dollars and is a wrong doer but you feel sypathy for her when she dies in the infamouse shower scene. They were not supposed sexual scenes that were outside of marriage or voyerism and Psycho does both these things with Crane and her lover in the beggining of the film and when Bates looks through the peep whole he made into Cranes room. Also the concept of murder was not to be presented in detail and the infamous shower scene is regarded as the most brutal murder of its time. Also the flushing of the toilet in Psycho casued a big uproar as it was the first time a toilet was seen and heard fully in a motion picture. Hitchcock made psycho as to come back from not being able to film two other movies that fell through in production.

The movie psycho would be classified as a horror, mystery or thriller.
The features of these genres are- Horror: Horror filmsa are designeds to repulse, cause fear , panic to the audiance while keeping them intertainded at the same time. A typical horror plot involves some sort of evil thing that is terrorizing a person or people, the person or people trie to stop the evil thing but usually with no luck at first, until at the end of the movie during a final fight scene between good versus bad the evill thing terrorizing thepeople is killed or stopped. These elements are in Psycho at several locations, When Bates frst kills Mariancrane, when he kills the police officer, and when he tries to kill at the very end of the movie, those elements couse fear because they jump out and suprise the audiance.
Thriller: A thriller movie involves many plot twists and keeps the viewer in anticipation of what will happen, thrillers involve quick action, suspense and plot twists to keep the viewer intrigued. Psycho has these elements when Bates kills the privet detective as he is walking up the stairs the audiance is nervouse as they wonder what will happen to him, then when ever bates tries to kill some one it is very fast pased and plot twists comes with who is really killing the people bates or his mother?
Mystery: Mystery films involve questions that are unanswered until the end of the movie, but they throw out pieces of information throughout the movie to keep the audience guessing. This is in psycho as you never know who the killer is until the end
Hitchcock produced Psycho he produced this movie to recover from two other aborted films, and based it off of a book that he read by the same name.

The films have boys with struggling relationships with their mothers; North by northwest, ridiculed by mom for insting men are chasing him. In frnzy the killer hates women but loves his mother, in strangers on a train the main character hates his dad but has a very nice relationship with his mother psycho Norman bates killed his mother and must compinsate for her death by becoming her in his mind.\Visual techniques are a series of close ups cut and put together in a montage to create a story by putting the pices together not just showing the full story

The films theme is the split personalities that people have, the concouse ones with Marium Crane as she seems t be a cool headed women until she runs away with the money and Norman Bates who belives he is both himself and His mother.

The target audiance of this ovie would be just horror fans

ideology in film

1. Ideology refers to the values or messages that a type of media is able to communicate to the audience
Eplict ideology refers to a message or view point that is promonet throughout the film easily identifiable, on the surface

Implicit ideology is the under the surface questionable motives of a film, it is not easily identifiable and require research and a reasond argument

2.Robert downy Jr.
Played roles in iron man iron man two Sherlock holms Sherlock holms 2 due date
Quick thinking
Smart
Dark side
Good at heart
Tries to do good but messe up at times

Next role would be one where he plays a man who gets involved either on purpose or by accident with something he must try to complete. , while on his way to complete this goal his darker side comes when he tries to help his partner

3. in starwars a new hope
what I like about Luke is that he just starts out as a small farmer but gets enveloped in a large war to save the universe. What is done to make me feel this way is making Luke not perfect he has his flaws and refuses te call to action but when he steps up he becomes a hero.
The values that im being asked is to not follow a dictatorship you should have personal choice and fight for that right
Feelings are being manipulated by
They might want me to follow a certain view point because they support that point and want others to follow it aswell
Artistic/fincial consequences might be not being to put everything they want to put in the film because what the audience want to see or putting to much in
Not being able to put in what the audience want to see to make sure that the finacer gets what he wants.

4. The ideologies of a given time period could change the way that the film is presented to its audiances because the changing ideologys affect what the people want to be seen and told. The changing ideologies also affect how people behave and reflect what they are going through. After world war two the idea of a hero changed from one that wa perfect to one that had flaws and struggled with them. That ideology changed the way a nerative was told because instead of having the hero go out and accomplish his or her goal they had to have a flaw that needed to be introduced and be stuggled on through out the film

5. A film a can affect ones behavior without them being conciouse of it because the movie holds a message wether it is explicit or implicit, and the message will be imbedded in the audience mind and cause them to think about it and after thinking about it it wll alter the descions they make based on the message the movie implies

6. suspension of disbliefe is beliving the fictional world of a movie to be true when we have not or cannot experience what is happining in the film but we still accept this as real. An example of this would be from the film Terminator cyborgs have not been created and we havnt interacted with them but we still show one walking talking acting as a real person in the film Terminator.

7. The finacial supporter of the film can change the ideologys of the film because he gives the money so the producers must do what he wants in order to get the money

writing about film

There are 5 types of film papers. The first is Formal analysis, formal analysis analyzes each individual part of the film and connects it to how the film works as a whole. You must be able to explain what certain aspects of the film are and what they due to the film as a whole. The next is Film History Films reflect the history of the world that they appear in but films are also stories of their own history, how the were made who liked it and didn't like it and if its remembered in history. The is ideological papers. ideological papers analyze what the film promotes. What message does the film convey to the audience? All movies have some message that they pass on to the audience and ideological papers analyze what the film promotes.
Cultural Studies/National Cinemas is a writing style that aspects how the nations culture affects there films. In America Films there is always action and adrenaline and when americans watch foreign films they may be confused on why certain things are or happen. The discussion of the Auteuris another way of analyzing a film. This way analyzes how the film was created by the director and recognizes the film as the product of a singe person.
Annotating shot sequence is when you write down each shot that happens in a particular scene so you can  understand how the film was created and why the film may have certain affects on the audience.
What the author says when the say think beyond the frame is that to think about who put that scene together what history went into making this movie, what do others say about the movie, and what can you learn from the films genre. It is to say what else happened to make that shot possible and was it affective.
